1 October 1949 as Paul Zahn KG

On 21 December 1979, the business was divided into Zahn GmbH Produktkennzeichnungen as the product label manufacturing business and Paul Zahn KG as the holding company.

Sales and marketing activities were spun off into a separate business with effect from 1 January 2007. For this, Johannes Zahn and Erich Erthle, the managing directors of Zahn GmbH, co-founded the distribution company Zahn + Erthle Vertriebsgesellschaft oHG.
